Overview
The Atto 3 (sold in China as the Yuan PLUS) is BYD's global volume electric SUV and the Chinese EV your buyers will already have heard of. Both Ghana and Nigeria offer duty relief on electric vehicles, which narrows the landed-cost gap against petrol. Be honest about the constraint, though: this car suits buyers with reliable charging, not buyers far from the grid.

Pre-Export Inspection
Every car we export passes a full vehicle inspection at a professional Chinese vehicle appraisal agency before it ships. The independent third-party report goes with the car, so you can check our description against someone else's findings rather than taking our word for it.

Who this car is for
The Atto 3 — sold in China as the Yuan PLUS — is BYD’s global volume electric SUV and the Chinese EV your buyers will already have heard of. Brand recognition on this car is stronger than on anything else we carry.
It is right for two kinds of buyer: a dealer with charging at the yard who wants to be first into the EV market locally, and a private buyer with reliable home charging and expensive petrol. It is wrong for a buyer far from stable power, and we would rather lose the order than have that conversation after the container lands.
The honest constraint, first
Charging infrastructure across West Africa is still thin, and grid reliability varies. Everything good about this car depends on solving charging. Before you order, work out where the car charges, how often power is available there, and whether your buyer accepts that constraint in writing.
If the answer is not clear, the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro or Haval H6 will make your customer happier.
Where the money goes
With charging solved, the economics are strong. There is no fuel cost, which in a market with high pump prices is a large weekly saving. Both Ghana and Nigeria offer duty relief on electric vehicles, which narrows the landed-cost gap against a petrol SUV — though the administration of that relief varies, so have your clearing agent confirm before you price the order.
The battery is LFP Blade chemistry, which is durable and tolerant of heat — relevant in a 35 °C climate where nickel-based chemistries degrade faster. The 150 kW motor gives it more performance than any petrol model in our range.
What we check before we buy it
- Battery state of health, tested at the appraisal agency, with the battery report supplied alongside the vehicle inspection report
- Accident and ownership history from the Chinese vehicle file
- Charging system function, and exactly which charging hardware is included
- High-voltage system diagnostics and any stored fault codes
- Tyre age and tread measured on all four; paint and panels inspected and anything found photographed
Battery state of health is the single number that determines what a used EV is worth. You get the battery report itself, before payment. Any exporter who will not give you one is asking you to guess.
Every unit also goes through a professional Chinese vehicle appraisal agency before export, and the independent report ships with the car.
Sourcing and lead time
Supply is good but thinner than the petrol models, since the Chinese used EV market is younger. Allow two to four weeks to source a specific battery size and year, plus 28-35 days sailing from Guangzhou Nansha to Tema or 30-40 days to Lagos.
Honest limitations
Charging is the constraint, and it is a real one. Beyond that: EV service knowledge in West Africa is limited, so a fault outside routine maintenance may need BYD support that is not local yet. High-voltage work requires trained technicians and specific equipment. Battery replacement, if it were ever needed, is expensive — which is exactly why we measure state of health before purchase rather than after.
We also do not provide warranty cover in your market. We are a trading company, not a local service network, and that matters more on an EV than on a petrol car — read the charging and service constraints above as the real terms of the deal.
Common questions
Q: What does a used BYD Atto 3 cost FOB Nansha? A: $11,111.11 to $12,429.63 across current stock. A 2022 430 km Zungui (Premium) at 28,000 km is $11,703.70 and a 2023 Champion Edition 430 km Chaoyue at 33,000 km is $12,429.63. A 2024 Honor Edition 510 km Lingxian at 54,000 km is $11,111.11 — the newest car at the lowest price, because mileage is what moves an EV’s value.
Q: What will it cost me landed? A: Around $17,307 in Ghana and $21,347 in Nigeria for a 2024 Honor Edition 510 km Lingxian, including freight and estimated duty. Both figures are before any EV duty relief, which could reduce them — see the Ghana and Nigeria breakdowns.
Q: How do I know the battery is healthy? A: Every unit is battery-tested at the appraisal agency and the battery report is supplied with the vehicle inspection report before you pay. Ask for it on the specific unit you are considering — the number is per car, and a range quoted for the model tells you nothing about the one in the container.
Q: Is charging really a problem? A: It is the main problem. This car suits buyers with reliable charging at home or at a dealer yard. For a buyer without that, choose a petrol model instead — we will tell you the same thing on the phone.
Q: Is it left-hand drive? A: Yes, every unit, as built in China. No conversion needed for Ghana, Nigeria or any other LHD market.
