Most comparisons of Chinese SUVs are written for Chinese buyers, which makes them close to useless if your car is going to spend its life on Ghanaian or Nigerian roads. Touchscreen size and 0-100 times do not matter. Three things do.
The three things that decide it
Ground clearance. Most compact SUVs sold in China sit at 170-180 mm because they were designed for Chinese city roads. On unpaved shoulders, potholes and aggressive speed humps, that difference between 175 mm and 200 mm is the difference between a car that lasts and a car that comes back to you with underbody damage.
Cooling capacity. A car specified for Chinese temperate conditions will run its air conditioning near capacity in 35 °C, permanently. Three-zone climate control is not a luxury item in a tropical market; rear-passenger cooling is what a family buyer notices on day one.
Parts and service reality. Not the brochure claim about a global network — whether a mechanic in Kumasi or Lagos has plausibly seen this engine before, and whether a part can be got in under a month.

What the ranking means in practice
The Tiggo 8 Pro wins on the criteria, and it is not close. 200 mm of clearance is the highest here, three-zone climate control is unique in this group, and the 1.6T or 2.0T keeps pulling with seven people aboard and the air-con working. It is also the only model with a genuine third row. If your buyers have families and your roads are bad, this is the answer.
The Tiggo 7 PLUS keeps almost all of that for a smaller car. It gives up 10 mm of clearance and the third row, and on our current stock it lands only about $430 below the cheapest Tiggo 8 Pro in Ghana — so the case for it is size and city usability, not savings. If your buyer needs five seats and a compact footprint in Accra or Lagos traffic, this is the one. If they need seven seats, the third row is worth far more than $430.
The Haval H6 wins on everything the table does not measure. 180 mm is respectable rather than impressive, but over 4 million cars sold worldwide means parts availability and mechanic familiarity that no other model here matches. Its FOB Nansha band runs from $9,303.70 to $13,303.70, which is the widest we carry. If you are stocking a yard rather than filling one order, start here regardless of the score.
The Coolray is a city car, honestly labelled. 178 mm and 1.5T are fine for Accra and Lagos paved roads, and 6-7 L/100 km is a real weekly saving for a ride-hailing driver. Put a Coolray on rural unpaved roads and you will hear about it.
The Atto 3 scores lowest and the score is slightly unfair. It loses points for service dependency on charging infrastructure, which is the correct thing to penalise — but with charging solved, the 150 kW motor and zero fuel cost make it compelling. It is a specialist choice for buyers with dependable power, not a general recommendation.
The comparison your buyer is actually making
None of this is really about which Chinese SUV. Your customer is deciding between a recent Chinese SUV and a 2014 European one at a similar landed price:

Eight years newer, a third of the mileage, a third row available on the 7-seat trim, and an engine that costs a fraction as much to keep running. The X5 wins on badge, and for some buyers the badge is the product — that is a real preference and not worth arguing with. For everyone else, the arithmetic is one-sided.
What we would not tell you if we were only selling
The DCT gearbox is the recurring weak point across the Chery and Haval models. It is reliable when its fluid service is done and expensive when it is not, which is why we inspect gearbox behaviour under load on every unit and report what we find.
Chinese-brand service networks in West Africa are real but thinner than Toyota’s. Routine wear items are fine. Something unusual may need ordering, and you should set that expectation with your buyer rather than discovering it together later.
And clearance is not suspension travel. 200 mm keeps the underbody off the ground; it does not make the Tiggo 8 Pro an off-road vehicle. Sell it as a road car that survives bad roads, which is what it is.
